Jason Nelson - Jason is a common sense conservative State Representative running for reelection. In addition to being a social and fiscal conservative, he brings a wealth of experience to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Time spent in both the public and private sectors and years of work on issues such as public safety, economic development and tax reform make him the most qualified candidate and the best prepared to affect conservative change in the state legislature.
Oklahoma Values - Jason Nelson is committed to defending the institution of marriage. Jason is pro-life and will continue to work to promote adoption instead of abortion. He supports allowing the faith community to partner with the state when it makes sense - such as with after-school programs and with criminal rehabilitation.
Affordable Healthcare - Jason supports a tax break for individuals who purchase their own health insurance. Jason also supports meaningful lawsuit reforms that will reduce frivolous lawsuits that lead to higher healthcare costs.
Strong Economy - Jason is a champion for job creation. He knows a vibrant and growing economy supports strong families, good health care and great schools.
Safe Neighborhoods - Safe neighborhoods are vital to a good quality of life. Our law enforcement agencies must have the resources to fight crime in our neighborhoods. Jason Nelson supports strong laws on illegal drugs and tough punishment for violent and repeat criminals.
Supporting Our Veterans - I’m grateful to have the support of numerous friends who are veterans and I believe we have a moral obligation to our active duty soldiers and veterans to provide them with the best possible military and veteran services. We must fully fund veterans services and ensure that veterans are aware of such services.
We must also be sure to express our individual and collective gratitude for their sacrifice and service to our nation and to always remember those who've lost their lives in service to our country.
If you are a veteran or active duty service member, please accept my gratitude for your service. My wife and I make a point to teach our children about the sacrifice of our military service members and their families and the importance of their service to our liberties.
Fighting Political Corruption - I lead the successful effort to strengthen the political corruption laws in our state It is unacceptable that disgraced former state Senator Gene Stipe was able to keep his pension after being forced from office for trying to buy elections, among other offenses. Trying to buy an election is the worst kind of offense to our political system. I’m convinced he violated his oath of office. I believe the no-tolerance political corruption law I authored will cause those public officials who would be tempted to violate the public trust to think twice.
